Matt Carrano, Interactive Media Designer and Developer

Matt Carrano is an interactive media specialist, visual artist, and Graduate Lecturer in Digital Media at Northeastern University. Over the past 25 years, Matt has worked as an engineer, manager, user experience designer, and consultant for leading companies including IBM, Wang Laboratories, and the Eastman Kodak Company. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Syracuse University, and an MA in Technology Strategy and Policy from Boston University.
After working in a variety of engineering roles, Matt developed a keen interest in how average people related to advanced technology, which led him to pursue a career in usability and user experience design. As a project leader and user experience architect, he has assembled and led cross-functional teams to deliver great user experiences. His current interests include the intersection between art and technology, and the relationship between software engineering and creative practice. He serves as the president of Somerville Open Studios, a Boston-area nonprofit organization, and exhibits his drawings and paintings in a variety of local venues..
